Uzbekistan and India — a reciprocal 30-day visa waiver announced, with no start date

During Prime Minister Narendra Modi's state visit to Uzbekistan on 29-30 August 2026, the Uzbek presidency's readout of his talks with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev cited a 30-day visa-free regime as one of the measures expected to lift tourism, and Uzbekistan's Tourism Committee stated it outright: "introduction of a 30-day visa-free regime for citizens of the two countries". Tashkent presents it as reciprocal. Nothing has actually changed yet. As of 31 August 2026 Uzbekistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not added India to its list of 30-day visa-free nationalities, and India's own list of signed outcomes and the joint statement do not mention a visa waiver at all. Indian ordinary passport holders still use the Uzbek e-Visa (diplomatic passports already have 60 days visa-free), and Uzbek citizens still use the Indian e-Visa. No effective date, no passport categories, no conditions have been published — so we keep serving the e-visa rule for both directions and log this only as announced.
