Colombia and Israel — mutual visa waiver announced for 1 September 2026

Israel's Ministry of Foreign Affairs records that on 15 July 2026 Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar and Colombia's incoming Foreign Minister Omar Bula agreed to abolish the visa requirement between the two countries; on 20 August the ministry named 1 September 2026 as the start date. That date is not yet on any government page we can read: Colombia's Cancillería has published no decree, and the Israeli consulate in Bogotá still carries its standing notice that Colombian citizens need a visa for Israel. Colombia had removed Israel from its visa-exempt list in 2025, so this restores something that existed before rather than creating it. Until a government source confirms the waiver is in force we keep serving the current rule — permission arranged online in both directions — and flag this only as announced. Note also that a waiver into Israel does not remove the ETA-IL: visa-exempt travellers still have to obtain one before flying.
