Montenegro brings in visas on 1 November 2026
Today you still get up to 30 days, and that holds right through 31 October. On 23 July 2026 Montenegro adopted a decree aligning its visa policy with the EU: from 1 November 2026 citizens of Russia, Belarus, Türkiye, Saudi Arabia and China need a visa. Travelling before then changes nothing for you. After it, one route stays open — Montenegro lets in visa-required travellers who hold a valid Schengen, US, UK or Irish visa or residence permit, for up to 30 days, with no Montenegrin visa at all.

Adopted, and now dated. On 23 July 2026 the Government of Montenegro adopted the Decree Amending the Decree on the Visa Regime; it was published on 27 July. From 1 November 2026 Turkish citizens need a visa for Montenegro — this is Montenegro aligning its visa policy with the EU ahead of accession, and it also covers China, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye. Until 31 October 2026 nothing changes at the border: 30 days visa-free, and that is what we serve. One route stays open either way — Montenegro admits visa-required nationals who hold a valid Schengen, US, UK or Irish visa or residence permit for up to 30 days without a Montenegrin visa. That rule sits outside the decree and, as written today, is untouched by it.
